Why must we declare our sexual preferences to a world that has done little to earn our trust?

Why, in a society as corrupt and judgmental as ours, is there such pressure to “come out,” as if love required an explanation or a public confession?

These are the questions that haunted me as I began writing this book. I couldn’t stop wondering:  Why are LGBTQ+ individuals expected to shout their truth from the rooftops, just to be accepted?
Why can’t society simply respect their silence, their timing, their privacy?

This journey—this story—is my attempt to step into their world. To understand what it truly means to live in hiding. To carry the unbearable weight of pretending to be someone you’re not, just to survive.

I was struck deeply by a moment I witnessed online: a well-known YouTuber, forced to come out publicly because strangers wouldn’t stop asking. It wasn’t bravery—it was pressure. Harassment disguised as curiosity. That moment opened my eyes.

There are countless people who know they’re different, who know they love differently—but they’re not ready to speak it out loud. And why should they be? In a world that punishes difference with bullying, rejection, and violence, silence is sometimes the only protection they have.

We live in a society that preaches tolerance while practicing cruelty. That demands honesty from others, but offers no safety in return. Hypocrisy runs deep.

Many are pushed into a double life—one for the world, one for themselves. A performance. A mask. And behind that mask is a soul slowly suffocating.

This book is about that suffocation. About the desperate need to breathe freely, to live fully, and to love without shame. It’s about the fight to escape that invisible prison and reclaim the most basic right of all: to be who you are.
